Fair Trade Standards We Can All Support
It is important to The Dharma Door that producers are paid fairly in the local context. We research the background of suppliers carefully to ensure that artisans are paid enough to meet the basic daily needs most of us take for granted, including nutritious food, housing, clothing, education for their children and health care needs.
We can say with confidence that each of our producer partners meet and in some cases exceed fair trade standards.
As an added plus, we are involved in the design of many of our products. We give careful consideration to the traditional skills and local materials used by our suppliers, while ensuring that everything we sell is contemporary and suitable for our customers.
Earth-Friendly, Too
In addition to our commitment to Fair Trade, The Dharma Door is also committed to the well-being of planet Earth. We aim to source products that are made with sustainable materials such as bamboo and jute; recycled paper and plastic, and we ensure each item is produced with non-toxic glues, dyes and lacquers.
We believe that a healthy planet is a shared responsibility. And as a company, we show our respect for the environment by using recycled packaging, reducing and offsetting our carbon emissions, and recycling/reducing the paper and ink use in our office.
