ARTISAN OF THE MONTH:
Sumitra Audhikary, 40, lives in the
Sumitra and her husband had a son and three daughters. They were continually faced with difficulties and in order to move forward and create a better life for their children, Sumitra called on the weaving skills she was taught during her childhood. She approached TARANGO and has been taking work orders for jute craft ever since. Within a few months she had singlehandedly overcome their crisis. She has since been able to greatly improve the whole family’s situation. Sumitra is proud to have been able to afford education for her children, which has resulted in all of them completing their Secondary School Certificates. She also contributed a third of her earnings towards the construction of their new house. All of this would not have been possible without the work Sumitra receives from TARANGO.
